The work of the IAFR is made possible through the Division of the Humanities, a UC Presidential Chair held by the Institute's Director, grants from foundations and corporations, and contributions from individuals. Because UC Santa Cruz has become a "state-assisted" rather than a state-supported campus, contributions have become increasing essential to its maintenance and growth. Contributions to the IAFR are vital to support the research of faculty and graduate student affiliates and the collaborative projects that the Institute sponsors with the local Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay community.
